I love my new kitchen and bathroom! - Tammi & Craig H.

We initially used Penny to renovate our bathroom (it needed to be completely gutted). She did such a great job, we hired her to do our kitchen the following year.

Penny is a great communicator-we always knew what was happening in our renovation. We live in an older house that had been renovated by people before us so there were a few surprises along the way -Penny made sure to explain to us what needed to be done and why. She was upfront about cost as well. She showed up when she said she was going to show up, left the work site clean at the end of the day and was sensitive to our timelines. She made sure that things were done right!

We are hoping to renovate our basement next and we will definitely be using Penny again. We would highly recommend her to anyone else looking to have work done on their home (and in fact have done so). I love my new kitchen and bathroom!

Two Bathroom Remodels - Mark W.

I've worked with Renovation Jeannie on a couple of different home renovation projects, the most recent and most significant was two bathroom remodels.

The first bathroom was a removal of the existing tub and flooring, with installation of new soaker tub, fixtures, and tiled floor and bathtub walls.

The second bathroom was a removal of an existing shower surround and flooring, with installation of custom glass shower, pebbled shower floor, new fixtures and tiled floor and shower walls. I could not be happier with the renovation process and the final product.

What I appreciate most about working with Penny is her ability to communicate and explain the renovation job to someone that is not an expert in the field. She takes a professional and customer-oriented approach in all phases of the project that is uncommon in other trade professionals.

One of the many value-added services that she provided in the project was an extensive knowledge and connections to local suppliers that she had worked with before. She was able to communicate my vision for the project to the supplier, along with dimensions and other aspects unique to my home. This significantly reduced the time spent purchasing (and returning) materials only to find out that it did work for my situation. She also has numerous connections with other trades professionals required to complete the project, all of whom were equally as professional and up to her standards. She was also willing to work with trades professionals that I knew.

Penny is very experienced in working in a finished home and understands how disruptive a major renovation project can be a every day life. She was incredibly considerate of my living area and contained the work to the project area. I would highly recommend Renovation Jeannie and certainly look to work with her again on future projects.

Tile around a new soaker tub for my bathroom - Connie A.

In October 2020 Renovation Jeannie was recommended to me by my plumbing contractor to tile around a new soaker tub for my bathroom. I needed a niche built in the wall for bottles of shampoo and conditioners and she made it a custom fit for my professional size of bottles. She really helped me make the decision as it is the time to make how you want it. And that was so true. The niche is beautiful.

I can’t say enough how professional her work was and in a timely manner. Being it was a bathroom it was a bit imperative.

I’m so happy to have had the opportunity to work with Penny as I have many more ideas in mind for Renovation Jeannie!

The pandemic didn't shut her down! - L.J. B.

In March 2020 on the day that our province went into pandemic lockdown, Penny at Renovation Jeanie began demolition day on my home remodel. From the get-go, I was worried the job site might be shut down or aspects of the work might have to be delayed. Fortunately, Penny ran an exceptional site with all precautions and accommodations required to keep workers safe and the job going.

From initial planning and costing, to demolition, to building, to coordinating sub-trades, to collaborating on design and problem solving, to final payment, Penny was good-humored, patient, and prepared for anything.

As a female homeowner embarking on a daunting, virtually whole-house renovation, working with such a qualified female contractor was a relief and joy compared to previous encounters with tradespeople and contractors. I can't thank or recommend her enough to anyone considering work on their home. She and her team are to be commended always! They're a 10/10!

Many Reno projects done by Renovation Jeannie - Nadine P.

We have had many Reno projects done by Penny - Renovation Jeannie - Nadine P.

We have had many Reno projects done by Penny - Renovation Jeannie. Her attention to the details, creativity, skill set, project planning and management are outstanding! In 2014 we did a patio conversion, 2016 our bathrooms went from outdated 1979 to bright, modern, clean, with a custom tile shower, and highly functional small spaces!

Penny always made sure we were working within our budget but somehow getting all the things we wanted. She helped us with product selection when we needed it and brought in other speciality trades when we needed them to get the projects finished just right. Working in a high rise condo has its challenges and Renovation Jeannie found solutions to all of them.

Highly recommend Renovation Jeannie for any Reno’s or updates to your home! We are currently working with Renovation Jeannie starting on our kitchen update 2021.

Bathroom reno - Judy W.

Penny did an absolute wonderful job on our 60 year old back entryway/staircase/basement foyer. Being an older home, challenges always pop up unexpectedly but she never wavered, had solutions and great ideas to overcome the challenges and make it so much better.

She is very reliable and knowledgeable, kept us up to date on progress and always consulted with us regularly. Her work ethic and relationship with her subtrades made our experience stress-free. She came up with ideas for changes we hadn’t even thought of but flowed really well with our end vision and lifestyle.

We already have plans to have her do another big project for us in the near future!!!

We chose (having seen her renovations in a friend's home) Penny / Renovation Jeannie to convert our downstairs bathroom from a dingy, cramped, non-functional hole into a more roomy, airy and user-friendly modern space that we now enjoy daily.

Penny brings good ideas, experience, a co-operative and collaborative attitude, and an exceptional work ethic to the job site. She has solid working knowledge about tools, materials, and methods, and is meticulous in her day-to-day functioning in the client home. I can recommend her without hesitation, and indeed have done so for friends who need assistance with home renovations of various sorts. She will be my first "go-to" for any future in-home renovation projects.

A Satisfied Client - M.B.E Harris

I am a retired educator and it is always my pleasure to hear of males teaching the primary grades — exuberant to have females in administration roles. Why not?

There is no logical basis for gender-oriented positions in a profession. If you are interested in having an active part in supporting the above, I would recommend Renovation Jeannie. Penny is on the cusp of turning carpentry into a non-gender-based profession.

In addition, you will benefit from her job well done. Penny is well-educated as a graduate from SIAST. Her work is more than satisfactory — it is great! Add to that meticulous work, pleasant personality, and a well-groomed lady.

Last, but not least; she brings dignity to her work.

Penny was an integral part of a kitchen renovation where demolition work was required. She is very professional and offers various levels of work involvement from her end depending upon the available budget.

I was impressed with her ability to bring forth ideas in areas I was not sure what could be done; again, different ideas for different amounts of budgets. Attention to detail and excellent workmanship is evident in the projects she completed for me.

She is very personable and I felt I was treated with respect while expressing my wants or concerns. When I have any home renovation project, I do not hesitate to contact Penny. It truly was a pleasure to work with her.

2 Major Projects - Vic W.

We had Renovation Jeannie do the following major projects in our two homes – one older home and one under construction:

  • bathroom and kitchen makeovers
  • installation of steam showers
  • new ceramic tiling
  • fireplace framing and subsequent stone work
  • installation of cupboards
  • installation of appliances
  • all the interior painting of both houses

The best part of the experience was working with an experienced journeyperson. We discovered very quickly that the projects were completed as planned and the process was virtually worry-free for us.

The attention to detail, the help we received with our design ideas and Renovation Jeannie’s access to and cooperation with subtrades ensured we had the beautiful results we wanted.

A Happy Referral - Karen T.

I called Renovation Jeannie based on a recommendation from Habitat for Humanity.

My apartment is the 80’s version of wheelchair accessibility. The areas under the kitchen sink and stovetop are open. My small electrical appliances were still in a plastic container, my canned goods in a laundry basket, and my grandma’s dishes were still packed.

Penny came to do measurements. She was a good communicator and quickly grasped what I wanted. She installed shelves in two corner cabinets and built-in storage under the sink and stovetop. To my surprise, she had re-purposed cabinet fronts from another kitchen renovation. The match was perfect! Magic! Just like a Genie!

As a result, my grandma’s dishes have a home in cabinets that are level, plumb, and perfectly square. Just like a Renovation Jeannie!
